Clay Griessmeyer
TRUSTED CO‑COUNSEL
Clay Griessmeyer is not a member of McCarthy Motorcycle Law. He is a longtime friend, a trusted co‑counsel, and a a trial lawyer we work with on select motorcycle accident and motorcycle wrongful death cases, and in limited rider cases involving bicycles, when additional courtroom experience or resources are in a client’s best interest.
We include Clay here because transparency matters and because when we choose to work together, we want clients to understand who is involved and why.
Clay has represented people injured on two wheels, including motorcyclists and bicyclists, since 2008. He is a trained trial lawyer with substantial courtroom experience in both personal injury and criminal defense, and he has tried cases to verdict in Wisconsin courts across the state.
Clay has obtained significant jury verdicts and results for injured clients, including a multi‑million‑dollar verdict for an injured cyclist in Wisconsin. Those results reflect years of preparation, trial skill, and a willingness to take difficult cases to court rather than forcing premature settlements.
He has appeared in courts in numerous Wisconsin counties and has also handled cases in Southern California. Clay is licensed to practice law in both Wisconsin and California. Throughout his legal career, he has exclusively represented injured individuals and families and has never worked for insurance companies or defense firms.
A Rider’s Perspective
Clay is deeply connected to the riding community.
He is a year‑round bicycle commuter, an active cyclist and triathlete, and a longtime bicycle safety advocate. He served for six years on the board of the Wisconsin Bike Federation, including time as Secretary of the Board, and volunteers with organizations such as Free Bikes for Kids Madison. His commitment to rider safety extends beyond the courtroom and into the community.
This perspective matters in cases where rider conduct, visibility, and safety assumptions are often disputed.
Why We Work With Clay
Clay brings significant trial experience, preparation, and credibility to the courtroom. On cases where additional trial firepower benefits the client, we are proud to work alongside him. He approaches injury and wrongful death cases with care, seriousness, and a focus on people rather than profits.
Outside of the courtroom, Clay is a husband, a father of two, and a dog owner. He has worked a wide range of jobs outside the law, including bartending, construction, lifeguarding, teaching, and coaching. Those life experiences help him connect with juries and clients in a genuine and grounded way.
Clay may not be part of our firm, but when we choose to work together on behalf of injured riders and families, clients are in capable and committed hands.
