Wisconsin has no shortage of great roads, scenic routes, and motorcycle events. But some of the most meaningful rides on the calendar are about more than motorcycles. The Highground Honor Ride

The Highground Honor Ride has become one of Wisconsin’s premier motorcycle events honoring fallen service members. Riders depart from multiple locations throughout Wisconsin and converge at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville for a day dedicated to remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 

Unlike many charity rides, the Honor Ride is tied directly to Memorial Day. Riders gather not only to enjoy Wisconsin’s roads, but to participate in ceremonies and events focused on honoring veterans and Gold Star families. The event culminates with a memorial ceremony recognizing Wisconsin service members who never returned home. 

For riders looking to combine motorcycling with service and remembrance, few events in Wisconsin carry the same significance.

Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer

When: Typically the second Sunday in June

The Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer has become one of Northeast Wisconsin’s most recognizable motorcycle charity rides. Centered around the Green Bay area and Vandervest Harley-Davidson, the event raises money to support cancer-related causes and patient services. 

What makes the Cruise for Cancer special is its longevity. Since the early 2000’s year after year, riders return to support individuals and families battling cancer while enjoying a day on Wisconsin’s roads. The event typically combines organized riding with fundraising activities, community gatherings, and opportunities to support cancer patients throughout the region. 

Motorcyclists often talk about the motorcycle community’s willingness to show up when people need help. The Cruise for Cancer is one of the best examples of that tradition.

Hogs For Heroes Benefit Rides

Hogs For Heroes is not built around a single annual ride. Instead, the organization supports and participates in numerous fundraising events throughout Wisconsin’s riding season. Its mission is unique: helping Wisconsin veterans through the therapeutic benefits of motorcycle ownership by purchasing and gifting Harley-Davidson motorcycles to deserving veterans. 

The organization’s founders recognized the strong connection between military service, camaraderie, and motorcycling. Their goal is to help veterans rediscover freedom, community, and purpose through riding. Funds raised at benefit rides, poker runs, and special events support that mission. 

Many riders who participate in Hogs For Heroes events are supporting a cause that goes far beyond motorcycles. They are helping Wisconsin veterans reconnect with a community and a lifestyle that can play an important role in healing and recovery.

Ride With The Lights

Ride With The Lights gives Wisconsin riders an opportunity to support a cause connected to local law enforcement and community outreach efforts. Organized through the Lights of Christmas organization, the ride raises money that is converted into gift cards officers can use to assist community members and families in need. 

The ride is notable for its law-enforcement participation and fully escorted route. Participants ride alongside officers from agencies across Wisconsin while supporting a program designed to help people facing financial hardship and unexpected challenges. 

It is a different type of motorcycle charity event, but one that reflects the same spirit of service and community that defines many of Wisconsin's best rides.

The Highground Heroes Ride

Although not a motorcycle event, the Highground Heroes Ride deserves mention because it shares many of the same values that draw people to motorcycle charity rides. The Heroes Ride is a long-running bicycle tour benefiting The Highground Veterans Memorial Park. Cyclists travel from various regions of Wisconsin on multi-day routes that ultimately converge in Neillsville. The event raises funds to support veterans, military families, PTSD programs, veterans’ retreats, and other services provided by The Highground. 

Many riders and cyclists share a love of freedom, exploration, and life on two wheels. The Heroes Ride reflects those values while supporting an organization that has become one of Wisconsin’s most important resources for veterans and their families. 

For motorcycle riders who also enjoy cycling, or who simply want to support veteran-focused causes, the Heroes Ride is another event worth knowing about.
